June’s Activist Homework
THE ISSUE:
The midterms are 6 months away on November 3 — and the stakes could not be higher. Democrats need to flip three House districts and four Senate seats to take back Congress and stop the Trump Administration. The outcome will come down to voter turnout.
THE ACTION:
Start writing your 100 postcards to voters in key swing states.
TOTAL TIME: 1 Hour
Fill out your letters to voters
Last month, I asked you to order 100 postcards through Turnout PAC. If your postcards have arrived, your job this month is simple: start writing them. You do not need to complete all 100 this month. Choose the option that works best for your schedule.
Option 1: The One-Hour Sprint
Set a timer for one hour and complete as many postcards as possible.
Option 2: The Weekly Habit
Write 10 postcards each week. You’ll finish all 100 in about 10 weeks.
Option 3: The Social Option
Invite a few friends over, put out some snacks/drinks, and write postcards together.
Option 4: Batch on weekends
Set aside 30 minutes on Saturday or Sunday. You’ll finish your 100 in about six weekends — one relaxed batch at a time.
What you’ll need:
• Your postcards and list of addresses that Turnout PAC sent you in the mail
• The instructions included with your packet
• A blue or black pen
• Postcard stamps (currently 61¢ each)
Important: Do not mail your postcards yet. Turnout PAC includes a specific mail date to maximize their effectiveness. Complete the postcards now and hold onto them until your designated mailing window, which is stated in the instructions you received in the mail.
Why postcards?
Turnout PAC’s postcards are shown to boost Democratic turnout by up to 1.3%. That may sound small — but in close races, 1.3% can sway elections.
Save democracy one joke at a time! We’re hosting a comedy and cabaret fundraiser in San Diego’s University Heights — featuring three hilarious acts and hosted by the one and only Mariam T.
Tickets start at $100 (pricing goes up July 1st!), and every dollar goes directly to our mission: preserving democracy, protecting human rights, and fighting corruption. Because if we’re going to save the world, we might as well do it laughing.
