THE ISSUE:
Congress passed a $95 billion budget package this summer, and buried inside is language that could make it harder to vote just months before the midterms. The House Administration Committee has until September 11th to write the elections portion.
THE ACTION:
Call your senators and tell them to oppose any voter ID or documentation requirement in this package, or anything resembling it.

How to call your Senators
Step 1: Find your senators
- Go to congress.gov/members/find-
your-member - Click “Find your member by address”
- Enter your full address — your two senators will populate
Or, you can call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and tell the operator which members you’d like to reach. They’ll connect you directly.
Step 2: Make the call
- Call between 9 AM–6 PM in your local time zone, Monday through Friday, and read the script below.
Here’s what to say: “Hi, I’m a constituent from [your city]. I’m calling about the budget reconciliation package. I want Senator [Name] to oppose any voter ID requirement, citizenship documentation requirement, or anything resembling the SAVE America Act, in this package or any other bill.”
Why this matters:
These voter ID requirements have never secured the 60 votes needed to pass on their own, but folded into this bill, they’d only need a simple majority. It already passed the House 216-214. If it clears the Senate, millions of eligible voters could be locked out this November.
Last Month's Activism
Last month, you called your senators urging them to vote no on H.R. 7008, the bill that quietly paired a weak insider-trading measure with a voter ID mandate. The House passed it 232-198 on July 22nd, and its outlook in the Senate still remains uncertain.
Voter ID and citizenship-paperwork requirements keep resurfacing, this time in a budget package, which is exactly why this fight isn’t over.
